The
Community Support Team provides support to groups and
communities across Eastbourne and Wealden.
Staff
in Eastbourne support the development of The Eastbourne Community
Network, providing opportunities for the sharing of information
and resources, and for joint working.
This offers an effective communication link for Voluntary and
Community groups and a structure through which the Sector can make its
voice heard in local planning and decision making.
The
Eastbourne Community Network Support Group
is made up of representatives elected from local groups and it is
responsible for:
|
|
|
|
Network
events to bring Voluntary and Community Groups together to share
information and discuss topics of concern or interest
|
|
Establishing
clear lines of communication between local groups
|
|
Establishing
links with Eastbourne Strategic Partnership and delivery partnerships
|
|
Establishing
elections to appoint Voluntary and Community Sector representatives to
the Eastbourne Strategic Partnership and its deliver partnerships
|
|
|
Community
Support, Eastbourne and Wealden provides funding and organisational
advice and support to new and developing groups across both Eastbourne and
Wealden. They provide practical and flexible one-to-one support sessions
tailored to individual group needs and provide workshops and surgeries at
Network and Forum events.
Two grant schemes, aimed at assisting the development of the sector
and provision of local services, are administered in each District/Borough.

The
Devonshire Neighbourhood Project is a pilot project, initiated by the
Eastbourne Strategic Partnership (ESP) as a result of research to produce a
Devonshire Ward Area Profile report in 2005.
Eastbourne Borough
Council funds a post, seconded to EAVS.
Other partners make contributions in cash and in kind to support the
work.
A Neighbourhood Action Plan is being developed with partners, which
will look at making improvements on “quality of life” issues and other
concerns raised by the research and confirmed from events during 2006.
Further events will be based on the top three priorities chosen by
people in the neighbourhood and these will form part of a neighbourhood
Action Plan.
