Welcome to Eastbourne Association of Voluntary Services' (EAVS) website. We hope you find the information contained useful for your voluntary or community groups needs. EAVS was established in 1973 and is among 280 Councils for Voluntary Services (CVS) in England. All CVSs are agencies of community development which act as umbrella bodies for many local voluntary organisations. EAVS has over 250 member organisations based in Eastbourne and Wealden and the surrounding area.

As a member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) EAVS fulfills five main functions with the aim of enhancing the quality of life of people in the area:
Development
Looking at provision of services in the community
Finding areas of unmet need
Initiating projects to satisfy those needs
Support
Providing services for members of the community.
Supporting local voluntary organisations through information and advice,training, volunteer development, provision of accessible meeting rooms, display and other equipment
Liaison
Helping voluntary organisations to work together to plan services and to liaise between voluntary and statutory bodies
Representation
To represent the views of the voluntary sector to the statutory sector, especially in planning and promoting change through negotiation.
To enable voluntary groups to make their voice heard
Developing Effective Partnerships
To promote the role of the voluntary and community sector and establish effective partnerships between voluntary and community groups, statutory agencies and the private sector
